Weltrangliste der Universitäten veröffentlicht
Das Times Higher Education Magazin hat in der Weltrangliste der besten Hochschulen die neuen Platzierungen veröffentlicht. Aufgelistet sind 980 Institutionen aus 79 Ländern. Das Ranking richtete sich dabei nach festgelegten Indikatoren. Neben der Reputation und Tradition der Universitäten, kam der Häufigkeit der Erwähnungen oder Zitate im wissenschaftlichen Kontext und der Qualität in Forschung und Lehre das meiste Gewicht zu. Auf die ersten fünf Plätze kommen die Hochschulen University of Oxford, California Institute of Technology, Stanford University, University of Camebridge und das Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Damit belegt zum ersten Mal eine europäische Universität den ersten Platz. Unter den ersten 50 Platzierungen befinden sich auch deutsche Universitäten. Die Ludwig Maximilians Universität kommt auf Platz 30, gefolgt von der Universität Heidelberg auf Platz 43, Technische Universität München auf Platz 46 und der Humboldt Universität zu Berlin auf Platz 57. Aus der Weltrangliste lässt sich damit auch die Positionierung der Universitäten in Deutschland herauslesen. Die Ludwig Maximilians Universität führt damit die deutsche Liste der besten Universitäten an.
