Einblicke in die Geschichte der Medizin
Das Berliner Medizinhistorische Museum der Charité stellt im Rahmen der Veranstaltungsreihe „Topoi im Museum“ noch bis zum 11. September antike Kunstwerke in Form von medizinischen Instrumenten, anatomischen Körperteilmotiven und bemalten attischen Trinkschalen aus, die in der Führung „Die Seele ist ein Oktopus vorgestellt werden. Atmosphärisch untermalt werden die insgesamt zehn Abteilungen von den durch Christoph Geiger geschaffenen großformatigen Bildern, den „ Visual Translations,“ die auch Mitte 2017 im Deutschen Medizinhistorischen Museum in Ingolstadt gezeigt werden. Das Zusammenfließen dieser künstlerischen Effekte gewährt imposante Einblicke in das Seelen- und Körperverständnis der Antike. Daneben zeigen Leihgaben von anderen Museen antike Körper und Seelentheorien. Am 7.September zeigt eine unter vielen anderen öffentlichen Kuratorinnen-Führungen unter dem Motto „Die Seele ausstellen“, Einblicke in die Entstehung der Ausstellung zu Körper und Seele. Die Ausstellung „Die Seele ist ein Oktopus“ soll eine anschauliche Vielfalt von Kunstwerken zu altertumswissenschaftlichen Theorien über Seele und Körper zusammenstellen. Die Ausstellung ist ein Konzept der Forscher der Exellenzinitiative „Topoi“ und der Alexander von Humboldt-Professur für klassische Altertumswissenschaften und Wissenschaftsgeschichte der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU), das in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Museum entwickelt wurde. Eingerichtet wurde es als Intervention im Präparatesaal Rudolf Virchows. Die Exellenzinitiative Topoi ist ein Kooperationsprojekt zur Erforschung der Antike der Freien Universität Berlin und der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Zur Initiative gehören die Berlin- Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften, das Deutsche Archäologische Institut, das Max-Planck-Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte und die Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz. Begleitet wird die Ausstellung von Vorträgen in der Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler Forschungsthemen aus dem Exzellenzcluster „Topoi“ in Berliner Museen vorstellen. Vortragsreihe und Ausstellung werden durch vereinte Mittel aus der Alexander von Humboldt-Professur von Prof. Dr. Philip van der Eijk an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin und der Schering Stiftung ermöglicht. Bislang haben 18.000 Besucher die Austellung gesehen.
