Männer leben ungesünder als Frauen
Das Leben der Männer ist kürzer und verläuft ungesünder als die der Frauen. Zu diesem Schluss kommt das Robert Koch Institut in seiner neuen Analyse. Das Suchtpotenzial ist unter Männern höher als bei den Frauen. Aus dem Bericht geht hervor, dass unerwarteten Sterbefälle dabei insbesondere zwischen dem 35. und 65. Lebensjahr gehäuft vorkommen. Die meisten dieser Fälle können auf eine ungesunde Lebensweise zurückgeführt werden, heißt es darin. Durch die gesellschaftliche Rollenerwartung im Alkoholkonsum und den irrtümlichen Annahmen hierdurch Männlichkeit zu beweisen, werde der Trend Alkohol- und Tabakkonsum unter jungen Männern weiter aufrechterhalten, erläuterte BzgA-Direktorin Elisabeth Pott. Trotz des allgemeinen Rückgangs des Tabakkonsums rauchen Männer mehr als Frauen, vor allem in sozial benachteiligten Schichten. Daraus resultiert, dass Lungenkrebs, Mundhöhlen- und Rachenkrebs zu jenen Erkrankungen gehören, die unter Männern am häufigsten vorkommen. Auch gehen Männer seltener zum Arzt und nehmen an gesundheitsfördernden Angeboten weniger teil als Frauen. Um dieser Entwicklung Einhalt zu gebieten, haben die Bundeszentrale für gesundheitliche Aufklärung(BZgA) und die Stiftung Männergesundheit auf Wissensvermittlung mit fünf gemeinsamen Themenheften der „Wissensreihe Männergesundheit“ gesetzt. „Wir freuen uns, dass wir unser umfassendes, qualitätsgesichertes Onlineangebot nun um fünf neue Printbroschüren ergänzen können“, erklärt Dr. Heidrun Thaiss, Leiterin der BZgA.
