Man könnte meinen, dass sich in den letzten fünfzehn Jahren Nichts so schnell entwickelt hat wie das Mobiltelefon und das Fernsehgerät. Vom überschaubarem Handy, zum technisch ausgereiftem Smartphone. Vom Röhrenbildschirm zum ultraflachen und hochaufgelösten LCD Ferseher. Das führende Beispiel zum Erfolg des Onlineversandhandels ist Amazon. Im ersten Quartal dieses Jahres lag das Einkommen des Unternehmens bei beachtlichen 16,1 Milliarden US- Dollar. Dabei war der Gewinn sogar im Vergleich zum Vorjahr um 37 % gesunken. Amazon ist dem Deutschen Einzelhandel schon seit langem ein Dorn im Auge. Die Plattform von Amazon ist einfach gestaltet und das Warenangebot breit und tief. Es gibt eine große Auswahl an verschiedenen Herstellern. Sogar Gebrauchtwaren sind erschwinglich. Kaufhäuser bekommen diesen Umstand immer deutlicher zu spüren. In diesem Zusammenhang denkt man schnell an das Warenhaus Karstadt, welches im Jahr 2004 einer finanziellen Notlage gegenüber stand. Natürlich setzten sich die Schwierigkeiten des Konzerns nicht ausschließlich aus den Folgen des Onlinehandels zusammen, jedoch ist ein wesentlicher Teil auf die vermehrte Nutzung des Onlineversandts zurückzuführen. Es folgten der Verkauf von 74 Karstadt Fillialen und 51 Sinn Leffers Modehäusern. Im Allgemeinen sind jedoch nicht nur Warenhäuser oder Einzelhandelsketten betroffen. Besonders die Buchhändler verzeichneten große Verluste durch entstandene Absatzschwierigkeiten. Als zusätzliches Problem erwies sich das E-Book Angebot der Onlinehändler. Das führte die bedeutenden Buchhändler zur Bildung einer Allianz, welches den fortschreitenden Verlusten im Buchmarkt entgegenwirken sollte. So haben sich Thalia, Weltbild und Bücher.de mit Unterstützung von der Deutschen Telekom für eine Offensive zusammengeschlossen. Doch ist die Gewohnheit der Menschen ebenso als großer Faktor miteinzuberechnen. Denn ob eine Onlinebestellung schöner als ein Spaziergang zum Buchhändler ist, ist Auslegungssache. Nur eines ist klar: Es besteht zwischen diesen Optionen ein Unterschied wie Tag und Nacht. Unsere Sinne spricht wohl eher die Zweite Variante an.
