Dass Donald Trump kein Denkkünstler sein kann ist den meisten US-Bürgern mehr als klar. Nun macht jedoch auch sein sprachliches Level die Runde. Demnach könnte Trump und auch seine Widersacher einen Auffrischungskurs vertragen. Den nun aufkommenden Erfolg scheint das nicht zu stören.
Die grammatikalischen Grundkenntnisse und der Wortschatz der meisten US-Politiker sind mit denen der Siebtklässler oder gar von Grundschülern vergleichbar. Allen voran Donald Trump, dessen Kunst der Artikulation kaum den eines Fünftklässlers überbieten könnte. Der immer wild fuchtelnde und laut schreiende Kandidat der zurzeit keine Langweile auf dem Kriegsschauplatz der amerikanischen Vorwahlen zulässt, begrenzt seine Gedanken auf das Nötigste. Zu diesem Ergebnis kommen US-Forscher der Carnegie Mellon University. Gegenstand ihrer Untersuchung war das Vokabular und das Niveau der Grammatik. Maxine Eskenazi und Elliot Schumacher dürften damit bewiesen haben, dass die hitzigen Kandidaten der Vorwahlen unter anderem Hilary Clinton, Ted Cruz und Bernie Sanders zumindest kein Vorbild auf sprachlicher Ebene sein können. Auch der ehemalige US-Präsident Georg W. Bush war kein glänzender Redner und sprach damit nicht gerade den Intellekt der Bevölkerung an. Insbesondere fiel den Forschern auf, dass die Politiker ihre Sprache weitgehend dem ihrer potenziellen Wähler angleichen. Dabei sind jene die ihre Sprache am stärksten verändern öfter im Rampenlicht. So auch Donald Trump. Diese Tatsache scheint die Wähler nicht besonders zu stören. Denn die Vorwahl der Republikaner in Arizona geht auf Trump, genauer: alle 48 Wählerstimmen die dort vergeben werden. In Utah konnte sich Ted Cruz behaupten und Hillary Clinton konnte die Demokraten in Arizona für sich gewinnen.
